The Jonathan Edwards College Philharmonic (JECP) is a tightly knit group of musicians dedicated to the performance and enjoyment of a wide variety of orchestral music. From humble beginnings, the group has expanded to become one of the most dynamic centers of music making on the Yale campus. Putting up three innovatively programmed concerts a year, JECP is dedicated to showcasing the prodigious undergraduate talent on-hand at Yale, offering number opportunities for student conductors, soloists, and composers.
Members of the orchestra forge close bonds through regular interactions at rehearsals, concerts, and numerous social events, including a welcome picnic, house parties, and orchestral dinners at the end of each semester. Playing with the JECP is guaranteed to be an experience as rewarding as it will be enjoyable.
Highlights from previous concert seasons have included Beethoven's third and eighth symphonies, Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Overture, Mahler's 5th Symphony, and Shostakovich 9th Symphony.
